Some Robin Hood fancy dress costumes are a popular genre of outfit at costume parties throughout the year and especially so at  Halloween. Robin of Loxley is an English folklore hero who was both a highly skilled archer and Swordsman. He was a nobleman who was forced to become an outlaw, so he formed a group of fellow outlaws known as his "Merry Men" and roamed an area known as Sherwood Forest. Robin and his men wore Lincoln green clothes and they became infamous for "robbing from the rich to give to the poor".

Robin Hood fancy dress costumes have always been popular, but become even more so in recent years thanks to the Hollywood blockbuster, Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner in the title role and then more recently due to the huge success of the BBC television series.
